Members Area | Summary: Bearhug Timeline
Here is quick summary of the bearhug option from the front with arms free and the timeline. There are earlier stages of the timeline like running away, use of common objects, kicking, then hand strikes/shoves are always preffered but if you have to release we have a reminder below.
General Principles:
- Use the correct option from the correct distance.
- The further away the attacker the easier the soltuion (in most cases – not long weapons or handguns).
- Run to safety, not away from danger.
- Always scan and move.
Defenses:
- Outside Defense: This is against circular strikes (or in this video above a bearhug. We send the arm outwards with and “L frame” and strike at the same time.
- Inside Defense: Not in the video but as discussed last week send the palm (or forearm) inwards while pivoting the body.
This Week:
This week we will continue with inside and outside defenses. We will recap the bearhug and introduce an option with arms trapped. Lastly, we will start to incorporate more fighting skills against circular and straight strikes.
Kida, enjoy your training!
